If you download Danny Goodman's SpaceKit Viewer code and do something out of this world with it, we want to hear about it. Send us your code and tell us about your new application. If it passes the Rocket Science test, we just might feature your work at Mappa.Mundi Magazine.

Also, let us know of any suggested features or bugs you discover for our next release of the SpaceKit Viewer.

Download The Code

This .zip file (180K) will DOWNLOAD the code and ancillary html pages for the SpaceKit Viewer and will extract into a directory called "SpaceKit." This off-line version comes pre-packaged with a sample of real data returned by the SpaceServer. To start the session, go to SpaceKit/viewer/edgar.main.html in your browser. It is not necessary to enter anything into the Search Tool in order to get results as the data in the supplied file will always be used.

      The directories are as follows:

  • css/: contains the cascading style sheets
  • images/: contains the images used in the viewer
  • js/: contains JavaScript files that load the style sheets and check cookies
  • viewer/: contains the HTML files for the viewer
  • viewer/lib/: contains the JavaScript source for the viewer
There are also html pages that belong within the frame structure. They are as follows:
  • about.edgar.html: a scrolling "About..." page
  • blank.html: holds the background grid
  • edgar.main.html: creates the frames used in the viewer
  • edgar.header.html: handles the interaction with the tabs at the top of the viewer window
  • edgar.default.html: holds the Search Tool when the viewer is initially started. This frame's content eventually gets replaced by dynamically drawn maps.
  • map75EDGAR.html: contains a sampling of "blocks" and "options" arrays so that the viewer works locally. The criterion for searching is Company Name: technologies and Maximum Hits: 75
  • prefs.html: sets the preferred screen size for the viewer
