About Danny Goodman
Yes, it is the Danny Goodman who created the JavaScript tour de force
that underpins the remakable client-side functionality of the SpaceKitTM viewer.
Primarily an author but also a noted consultant, Danny has 28 technology and computer books to his name as well as three Computer Press Association Book Awards. His first best seller was the
Complete Hypercard Handbook,
first published in 1987. The Handbook is now in its fourth edition and has sold over 300,000 copies worldwide in several languages.
More recently, Danny authored
Dynamic
HTML: The Definitive Reference, published by O'Reilly & Associates. At 1088 pages, this reference is by far the most comprehensive of its kind, covering cross-browser implementations and in-depth reference coverage of HTML, Cascading Style Sheets, Dynamic Positioning, Document Object Models, and JavaScript. He is currently working on a new DHTML-related title for O'Reilly.
Danny Goodman is also author of
The JavaScript Bible, published by IDG Books. The third edition of this fixture on many a JavaScript developer's desk covers all the features of JavaScript 1.2 along with tutorials and a full-text-searchable Adobe Acrobat version of the book on the included CD-ROM. Ideal for newcomers and intermediate scripters, the book is organized with an eye towards both in-depth learning and quick reference access. Also included on the CD-ROM is easy access to over 200 ready-to-run scripted HTML pages. Six chapters of the JavaScript Bible are online in PDF format at Netscape's DevEdge. Danny is currently working on a Fourth Edition of the JavaScript Bible, but he's not sure that a book can actually be much thicker than the Third Edition!
Danny is also available as a consultant in the following areas:
- Client-side JavaScript programming
- Adding Dynamic HTML to Web sites
- Web application user ergonomics
- Netscape/Microsoft - Windows/Macintosh browser compatibility
When he's not at the computer, Danny can sometimes be found at a different sort of keyboard. He plays piano, but as he says, not only am I not ready for prime time, I'm not ready for 6 a.m., either. His musical interests run towards the classical and he has an extensive CD library, favoring Beethoven through Scriabin and instrumental works with heavy emphasis on piano.
