There is increasing concern about
allowing children out unaccompanied by adults, increasing
recognition of children's rights, and the introduction
in local planning of concepts such as 'home zones'.
Children have their own values, activities
and perceptions. This means that they use the local
environment in different ways to adults. The purpose
of this analysis is to bring these concepts together
systematically to explore how children use their local
environment, and to see how it can be improved to meet
their needs better and make it safer.
Several methods are employed to research
children's perceptions and environmental factors which
have an influence on their behaviour. The positioning
data obtained by GPS as well as
other information on the
children's behaviour is also used for the analysis.
