Welcome to 30 Days in ActiveWorlds. A project from the Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis, University College London. The original 30 Days project was developed to explore the growth of networked virtual space. By allowing tourists and citizens of ActiveWorlds to build in our server a series of maps were developed, logging the growth of the virtual world. A core community of users enthusiastically built a number of large and complex structures using elaborate architectural forms and investing a great deal of time. The pages carry details of the growth of the world, a prize was awarded for the most innovative building during the 30 Days, details are on the Winners page. The original 30 Days was limited to the standard Activeworlds object set. 30 Days II
expands the level of interactivity within the Essentially, 30 Days II is allowing both citizens and tourists to become the architects and designers of virtual space. Details on how users can design and submit their own objects is available on the Modelling page.
30 Days in ActiveWorlds gives you the ability the build freely in our ActiveWorlds server, CVDS on the worlds list, over a period of 30 Days. Building privileges in '30 Days in ActiveWorlds' are available to all users. When building please respect other users properties and refrain from posting contents which some may deem unsuitable for an open access world. All conversations and building will be logged and analysed as part of research. See our review by the 'PA NewsCentre' --------- email asmith@geog.ucl.ac.uk |
